This Sunday marked my brother’s girlfriend and my third time at the annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run. For those of you not familiar, this is a 10 mile run through Broad Street which goes through center city Philly. The one thing which we have learned doing this for two previous years now: 10 miles takes longer than you think, and it helps to eat a small meal to hold you over.
This year I was prepared. I made my Broad Street Run – Energy Trail Mix. While simple in nature, and hardly a “recipe”, it’s a collection of some of my favorite things. It definitely helped hold us over until after the race was over when we always go for lunch.
Here we are at the race with our trail mix:
Oh, wait… you didn’t think that I meant we actually ran the race, did you? Ha. No, we sit on the sidelines and cheer my brother on. Here he is around the 6 mile marker. This year his time was: 01:31:19
Broad Street Run Trail Mix:
Mix all ingedients and divide into plastic bags. You can find clear cellophane candy bags with twist ties at your local craft store.
